We resume The Way in Liñares.

From O Cebreiro we walk 3 kilometers and reach the small village of Liñares, one of the parishes of the municipality of Pedrafita do Cebreiro.

The following links lead us to our previous visit to O Cebreiro:

Parish church of Santo Estevo de Liñares. It is said that the church was founded by a deacon in the eighth century. In the village of Liñares linen was produced and sent to the now disappeared Monastery of O Cebreiro.

The church tower is the façade is square with a round arch in the entrance door, in its lower part and the four openings or windows in its upper part. It also highlights the roof slabs of slate characteristic of this part of Galicia.

It houses a baroque altarpiece inside. The church was restored in 1963.

Leaving Liñares less than a kilometer is the mountain pass Alto de San Roque, 1270 metres of altitude. The bronze statue of the Medieval Pilgrim is situated there.

There is a viewpoint on the road LU-633 leaving Liñares. From there we can see the small village. The Way turns right and continues along the paved road that is seen in the lower part of the picture. In turn, The Way leaves this paved track to climb the steep slope to the Alto de San Roque.

Several signs located at the entrance of Hospital which is another parish in Pedrafita do Cebreiro. One of the signs refers to a hiking trail called Ruta del Pozo del Lago Mayor climbing along approximately 2 km beside a creek to the place where there is a small lake of about 100 meters long by 25 meters wide.

Hospital da Condesa owes its name to the Countess Egilo who founded a hospital for pilgrims.

The Parish Church of San Juan/Xoán de Hospital is located almost leaving the village. The nave of the church is of Latin cross. The construction with masonry walls highlights and also the tower which can be climbed by a staircase on the outside.
